What does Green Acres Stand for?

Green Acres has been run by the same family for over 50 years.
This is Peter and Ruth’s 22nd season operating the restaurant.
We are committed to our village and the people that live here.
We have been involved in many community projects and
activities. Every year since we started we have sponsored a
Dolgeville Little League Team and for the past several years
we have had two teams one for Green Acres and one for Peter’s
“Jaikin Excavating” business. Peter has served on the village
board, the Dolgeville Central School board and the Manheim
Town Board and is still serving on the later two.

Ruth served on the Zoning Board of Appeals and served as
President of the Violet Festival for three years. She has been
involved with the Festival almost from the beginning. Ruth has
been involved with her daughter Julia’s Girl Scout troop for seven
years and volunteers as the Dolgeville Girl Scout Unit’s treasurer
for the past three years. Our Girl Scout troop has started a recycling
program at DCS this past year as part of the girl’s Silver Award.
It is a pleasure to help these girls realize their potential and
achieve a lasting and meaningful goal. We have already started
working on their Gold Award criteria.

Green Acres was the first business in the area to sponsor an
“Adopt A Highway” program. We “litter-ally” pick up a truck load
of trash from the roads entering the village at least twice a year.
We have been doing this for a long time. We were “green” before
“green” became so popular. We have recycled almost from the
beginning. We urge all of our employees to consider their
actions when cleaning, dumping trash and running water. We
have made many changes and improvements with our
equipment over the year to reduce costs and excessive use
of electricity.

We are so fortunate to have had the opportunity
to serve our community and friends from afar at our small
drive in. Thank you for your support and we look forward to
continuing our support of your school and community activities.
